William Penn is planning a possible hybrid option, which is a combination of both in-person and remote learning, for students in the second semester. We will still allow students who wish to remain remote for the remainder of the school year to do so.  While we are aware that the Governor has recently recommended pausing in-person learning through January 8, we are planning for a hybrid learning option to begin at the start of the 2nd Semester, February 1, 2021.

Tomorrow, a survey will be going out to William Penn families regarding the option of choosing hybrid or remote instruction for students for the second semester.  In order to gain information about our students and families’ preferences, William Penn families will be receiving a phone call and an email to complete the survey tomorrow between 3:30 pm and 8:00 pm.  It is very important that families take some time to select their preferences as the information we receive will determine our planning for student and teacher schedules, cohort groups and transportation for those students who choose the hybrid option for the 2nd Semester.  Your responses will be recorded by answering the questions by pressing a number on your phone keypad.

If you miss the call or are unable to receive the call, you will also receive an email or a William Penn staff member will contact you directly.  Please remember that we are requesting that every family to complete this survey for every student who attends William Penn, except for those students who are already in Special Programs, such as the Integration A program.  The plan for Integration A students and their return to school has already been determined.

When you receive the call, you will be asked your preference for hybrid learning or if you would like for your student to remain fully remote through the 2nd Semester.  It is also important that you let us know if you need transportation if you are choosing the hybrid option.  As a reminder, only students who are normally assigned a bus will be eligible for transportation to and from school for the hybrid option at William Penn.

Please note that we will be using your phone number and email address on file in the Home Access Center.  If you do not receive the phone call or email,  you may need to update your information in HAC.  It is also possible that you may have blocked or opted out of the calls.  Families who do not receive a call or email will be contacted by William Penn staff by the end of next week, or you can call your student’s school with your choice.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this survey tomorrow.  Again, families will receive a call between 3:30 pm – 8:00 pm, on Friday, December 4th and an email will also be sent to the email address we have on file.

Thank you and have a great evening,

Ms. Brewington
