WE Celebrate: Patty Buzby

For 30 years the Colonial School District (CSD) has been Patty Buzby’s second home.  Buzby loves CSD so much her Christmas time wedding day had a cherry red and black color scheme with flowers done by a former William Penn floriculture teacher, with music teacher Donna Fesmire was her organist, along with many district employees in attendance. Buzby spent 25 of her years teaching Spanish at William Penn and even though she’s looking forward to retirement she says, “I will miss the challenge of reaching students and making an impact on them as they move through their high school years.” Buzby made many accomplishments during her career. Among other things she was named Teacher of the Year, department chair and always enjoyed taking students abroad with the help of colleagues. She and her husband Jon were also responsible for making certain that William Penn students played an active role in the Special Olympics by hosting competitions at the school. Buzby has these parting words for students,

“Take advantage of every opportunity that is offered to you in the Colonial School District. every contact,

every service, every support system and every connection because we want you to be successful!”  Principal Lisa Brewington says Buzby’s sense of witty comments  will be missed, adding, “Patty has always been the school mom we all needed.  From her always opening her home pre-covid to staff to her organizing things to help staff in need, we will not only appreciate her many years of service to our students, but also to staff.”

Congratulations Patty!
