We Celebrate: Ivy Campbell

Ivy Campbell has spent her 36-year career teaching students at three different schools in Colonial. As a reading interventionist, she found pure joy in her work saying, “I became an educator for the thrill of teaching a child to read.” Retirement means a new chapter for Campbell who says, “I look forward to traveling somewhere in the middle of the week, taking art lessons during school hours, and designing and redesigning the rest of my life.” Campbell says she’ll miss her colleagues who work in a district where the Power of WE is more than just a mantra. “The most valuable lesson from my co-workers is that we are not alone. We are here to lean on each other should the need arise.”Campbell encourages her students to keep asking questions and seeking answers. Wilbur Principal Beth Howell applauds Campbell for creating an annual parade to celebrate their success and says “Ivy’s smile lights up a room. She can work with ANY student and bring out the best in them!”
