Lindsay DiEmidio has never backed down from a challenge. The oldest of four siblings, she faced the challenge of being in a leadership role while growing up, and was inspired to become a teacher after helping her brother who struggled in school. As an athlete she challenged herself as a basketball player at Wilmington University and now as an avid competitor in Crossfit competitions when she is not working. Prior to starting her educational journey she also faced the challenge of being a flight medic on a C-130 aircraft with the Delaware Air National Guard. Now in her 16th year with Colonial, DiEmidio went from being a teacher to a student advisor, an assistant principal, and now faces her latest challenge as principal at Wilmington Manor Elementary School along with Colonial’s new Virtual Academy. “I want students to remember their time at Wilmington Manor to be a positive experience. That we as a school community went above and beyond to foster positive relationships with our students. That we encouraged kindness and respect for each other and celebrated diversity,” she says.  As a married mother with a five year old daughter, DiEmidio tells her daughter Alessandra the same thing she tells her students at school: “When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose KIND!”  At Wilmington Manor, families will find the small school has a big heart when it comes to children with DiEmidio adding, “I am here to support my students and their families. Each child is important to me. Our uniquely small community is dedicated to the growth and success of our students.”
