About Us
- Wilbur Elementary teachers are able to “inspire excellence” in each of their students in a state-of-the-art building using the latest technology, including SMART boards, iPads, laptops, and Chromebooks.
- With over 1150 students, the building is designed with two of everything – including cafeterias, gyms, and playgrounds! Although it is one of the largest elementary schools in Delaware, student, staff, and parent surveys have all provided evidence that a strong, positive community has been built in this Kindergarten through 5th grade school.
- Wilbur Elementary was chosen in 2015 as National Model School through the International Center for Leadership in Education.

Lindsay DiEmidio
Principal
Principal Lindsay DiEmidio is excited about being the administrative leader for the Wilbur Wildcats. DiEmidio once taught at Wilbur along with Gunning Bedford Middle School before she decided to pursue other administrative roles as a student advisor, assistant principal, and principal at Wilmington Manor Elementary School. “I was inspired to become an administrator when I first began teaching. My assistant principal at the time urged me to go into leadership.
For me, this was a natural next step in my career because I loved helping my colleagues and as the oldest of four children, I always took that leadership role in our family.” she says. While attending Wilmington University as an undergraduate student DiEmidio played on the school’s basketball team and began competing in CrossFit competitions, a sport she is active in today. Before becoming an educator, DiEmidio was a member of the Delaware Air National Guard, serving as a flight medic on C-130 aircraft. She and her husband Nick have one daughter, Alessandra. She says supporting students, their families, and her staff is her professional mission, one she achieves by keeping this inspirational quote in mind, “When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose KIND!”
