September 23, 2020

Dear Parents,
In July, we asked our families to select a choice for virtual or in-person learning. As we have now transitioned into the Virtual Academy to start the year, we are asking you to review your choice. Let us know by Monday, September 28th only if you have changed your choice from July. This decision will be for the rest of the 1st semester which ends on January 29, 2021. Our plans for bringing students in-person will be phased in over the next couple of months. We will communicate with families at least two weeks prior to allow families time to prepare.

As we plan to provide in-person learning, we know that the experience will not be the same as it was prior to the pandemic. The safety of our students is at the forefront of all decisions, and the schools are prepared to follow the recommendations found in the Delaware Department of Education Return to School Guidance document.

Hub Model Concept

At the elementary and middle schools, we are also considering only using some schools as ‘hubs’ for in-person learning. As an example, Pleasantville might be a ‘hub’ school for students from Pleasantville, Carrie Downie, and Wilmington Manor. The decision regarding ‘hub’ or feeder pattern will be communicated at least two weeks in advance along with transportation information.
