Colonial in the spotlight

Colonial is a member of Empowering Educators to Excel (E3), an exciting partnership led by Insight Education Group and funded by the US Department of Education.

E3 is a networked improvement community that is bringing a wide variety of support and growth opportunities for Colonial’s teachers and school leaders as well as 32 other relatively small and/or rural schools in Indiana, South Carolina, and Texas.

Colonial was featured in eSchool News in October 2018
“How to retain great teachers: Start with leadership opportunities”.

At Colonial, we’re focused on offering teachers with multiple opportunities for leadership roles and paths for advancement, including:

  • instructional coach positions at the school and district level
  • an aspiring leader program with a clear pathway for a wide variety of leadership opportunities
  • teachers leading professional development and participating in action research through the Supporting Teacher Effectiveness Project (STEP)

“My biggest bright spot as a teacher would have to be seeing past students become successful in their life and knowing I was
a part of that.”
