Educate

  • Four Architect & Engineering (A&E) Firms were selected through the RFP process and the firms were School Board approved in October 2024.
  • These approved A&E firms can now be assigned any of our CN projects which leads to the negotiation and development of an AIA Contract between the District and the A&E Firm.
  • The AIA contract is a standard document used for these types of professional service contracts. The State Division of Facilities Management requires that we use a version that has been modified to meet State requirements.
  • These AIA contracts do not require board approval, however, we will always share the approved AIA contracts associated with all of our CN projects with the School Board as informational items.

2) Monitoring

  • The Facility Renovation Review Committee is continuing to meet every other month since November 2024.
  • The group has now expanded to include the Director of Operations, Supervisor of Facilities, 2 School Board Members, 3 Parents/Community Members, and a Colonial Staff member.
  • We are still looking for another interested Colonial Staff member.

3) Inform

  • We have awarded Becker-Morgan with the AIA contract for the WP Athletic Complex and Security Updates/Enhancements.
  • District and WP Building Representatives met with a Becker-Morgan team on Thursday, April 3rd to kick-off the schematic design phase of the planning process. ○ Athletic complex construction is planned to begin in Spring 2026 and be completed by Fall of 2027.
  • Our other projects are planned to have finalized AIA agreements in the next few weeks as follows: Eisenberg with JAED, Gunning Bedford with Fearn-Clendaniel, and the WP Roof project with RG Architects. ○ Each of these projects will also be expected to begin Spring of 2026.

4) Update

  • The New Leach School ○ Approvals and final construction plans have been submitted for State review.
    • District Board approval will be one of the remaining steps before going out to Bid in the next few months.
  • CM (Construction Management) RFP ○ The District has decided to go out to RFP for Construction Management Professional Services.
    • This will be a similar process as we did in the Fall to select A&E firms.
    • The plan is that one firm will be selected through the process, Board approved, and then will serve as the CM for the New Leach School project and the WP Athletic Complex Project.
