Jacobs formerly served as one of two Assistant Principals at Wilbur Elementary.

Roberta Jacobs is originally from New York; however, she made Delaware her home after attending the University of Delaware.  She graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s of Instruction.  Jacobs began her career in Colonial as a student teacher 21 years ago!  After graduating from college, she began her career as an elementary classroom teacher at the then-McCullough Elementary School and Castle Hills Elementary School.  At Castle Hills in 2006, she was named Colonial’s District Teacher of the Year.  Desiring to impact students and their families across the district, she headed into administration where she has since served as a Student Advisor at McCullough Middle School and has most recently been an Assistant Principal at Wilbur Elementary for the past five years.

The Jacobs family embraces the Power of WE!  Her husband Matt is a volunteer on the Colonial Citizens Financial Oversight Committee and their son, Jordan, is a student at Wilbur Elementary heading into 2nd grade in the Spanish Immersion program.  “I love Colonial because it has been my home for so many years.   All of my experiences in Colonial have shaped me as an educator.  Over the years my talent has been developed by countless colleagues and supervisors, and I feel it is my calling to give back and support the growth of everyone I work with!”

Jacobs is excited to bring her energy and enthusiasm to the New Castle Elementary family!  Her passion surrounding education is built on the significant impact relationships have on all stakeholders and can be summed up by one of her favorite quotes by Dr. James Comer, “No significant learning can occur without a significant relationship.”

Ms. Jacobs is looking forward to building those relationships with her new school community of staff, students, and family members at New Castle Elementary School and contributing to the growth of all.
