Yesterday we held a ribbon cutting and unveiled our newly remodeled bus yard at the Colonial Operations Center

What we have here is more than just a big new parking lot. It’s a game-changer for Colonial. In 2016, our District was fortunate to acquire this former DMV property from DelDOT. While this property was a major upgrade from our previous bus yard, it left many things to be desired.

With the paving and reconfiguration of the lot space, navigating and utilizing the yard is now safer and more efficient for our drivers and bus aides. There’s more than enough room for our current fleet of buses and it allows us room to grow in the years to come

Special thanks to State Senator Nicole Poore, who secured authorization to use existing funds for this project through the State Bond Bill. Senator Poore is a consistent advocate for our students, families, and the district as a whole.  We want to thank her for her efforts to help make this project happen not only to improve the daily work locations for hundreds of Colonial employees but for helping to improve the efficient and safe service we can provide to our Colonial students and families.
