New Castle, DE- The Colonial School District is pleased to announce a new partnership with Paul Mitchell The School, located at 1420 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19720. Under this partnership, students at the cosmetology school will render basic on-site hair care services to 20- 25 homeless or needy students each marking period, while giving up to 10 juniors and seniors at William Penn High School and the Wallin School an opportunity to job shadow.

“This partnership is a win-win for all involved! Paul Mitchell the School is committed to community service projects such as this. Our students will gain more experience rendering hair care services to children, while the neediest of students in Colonial will receive a professional salon experience. High school students with an interest in our industry will also gain insight by seeing our students and instructors in action,” said Education Leader Lissette Wright.

Colonial students will visit Paul Mitchell The School on the following dates from 9:00 to noon:

• December 18
• February 19
• May 7

Only elementary students with signed photo release forms can be fully photographed and interviewed. Reporters are asked to use sensitivity when describing the children’s plight. All families are financially strapped or in need of extra assistance.

“The Colonial School District takes great pride in offering our students access and opportunity that they might otherwise not receive. I can’t thank the administrators at Paul Mitchell
The School enough for embracing this partnership,” said Superintendent Dr. Dusty Blakey.
