As students across the Colonial Nation wrapped up the week heading toward winter break, some classrooms got a special visit from some holiday icons on Friday. But these weren’t just any icons, these jolly elves looked an awful lot like some WPHS staff. Deputy Principal Jim Zimmerman, along with front office staff Dena Broadnax, zoomed with several elementary classrooms in costume throughout the district to spread tidings of comfort and joy. After Santa Zimm and Mrs. Clause spoke with the students, they learned that some students had some special requests from Santa and his Elves this holiday season. One student, who normally is a little shy, had no problem telling the Clauses what he wanted by saying “ I WANT A BIKE”.

What happened next, well in WE-Ville they say, is a shining example of what the Power of We can do during the holiday.
That very same day, this group of staff from William Penn, Gunning Bedford and other schools sprang into action. They fundraised, and shopped on Friday with Santa Zimm safely delivering gifts Saturday to some of the students they met with on Zoom as well as their siblings. These students will have a great holiday thanks to the generosity of this group of staff who truly do what’s best for all kids in Colonial.
Cheers to Jim Zimmerman, Dena Broadnax, Katie Zimmerman, Nicole Belasco, Emily Zimmerman, Cathy and Jim Zimmerman Sr.,Gloria Rosado, Merlyn Burns, Urahn Roberts and Christal Beasley for making this happen.

And in case you were wondering . . . Yes, the Elves of CSD made sure the young man did receive his bike.
