Today we learned that an individual associated with the William Penn Football team tested positive for COVID-19. Because this individual followed mask-wearing and social-distancing protocols, the Division of Public Health (DPH) has determined that it is not necessary for student-athletes to quarantine for 14-days.
However, this case does affect multiple key personnel, therefore, the team will not be able to continue to practice or play on Saturday, Nov. 20th against Middletown High School or on Saturday, Nov. 27 against Appoquinimink High School. An effort will be made to reschedule at least one of the games if DIAA permits. Effective immediately, practices will be discontinued until Monday, November 30th.

While the team is naturally disappointed, keeping the health and safety of our students and staff remains a top priority in Colonial Nation.
Delaware Division of Public Health(DPH) encourages all Delawareans – whether you are experiencing symptoms or not – to consider getting a free test. That will help our state more accurately track the spread of the disease and keep our communities healthy.
Visit https://coronavirus.delaware.gov/testing/ for the latest updates on COVID-19 in Delaware and information on free COVID-19 testing in Delaware.
With the Holidays approaching, DPH recommends Delawareans take the following actions to prevent further spread of infection in the community:
• Only dine socially (at home and in restaurants) with those who live with you.
• Don’t spend time socially with people outside your household.
• Don’t plan on holding holiday dinners with those outside your household – even family.

Sincerely,

Matt Sabol,
William Penn Athletic Director
