Good Evening Panther Families,

Due to an accidental fire with a dishwasher in the cafeteria, students & staff were evacuated at Gunning Bedford this afternoon.

Students & staff evacuated immediately when the fire alarm sounded at approximately 2:30PM. Students were not able to come back into the building to get their belongings because the first responders had not yet deemed the building safe to do so. Students were dismissed as bus riders or car riders at approximately 3:00PM.

There is no school for students tomorrow from a previously scheduled professional development day. However, the building will be open tomorrow, 1/26/24, from 8AM-3PM for students’ belongings to be picked up.  If belongings are not able to be picked up tomorrow, 1/26/24, they will be available on Monday when students return to school.

Thank you to our students for diligently following the directions of their teachers.

Thank you to our staff for demonstrating grace, flexibility, and support for students during the emergency situation.

Thank you to your families for being flexible and responsive in such an unexpected situation.

Sincerely,

William Johnston
Principal
Gunning Bedford Middle school
