English Language Arts
The English department strives to develop the literacy development of our students so that they will become life-long readers and learners. Teachers supplement the McDougal-Littell anthology with novels, short stories, memoirs, plays, and informative pieces, to name a few. Our students read and evaluate print, electronic and video media in order to develop the skills needed for success in the 21st century.
Our teachers continue to plan and implement lessons using the Learning Focused Solutions model of planning and instruction. Students are demonstrating knowledge of important concepts through authentic tasks that require higher-level thinking skills.
