Hello Mustang Families,
We are excited to inform you that a new principal will lead McCullough Middle School. Effective February 21, 2023, Mrs. Hyacinth Lewis will take the helm as principal. Mrs. Lewis presently serves as one of the assistant principals at McCullough. Mr. Bill Johnston will become the new principal at Gunning Bedford Middle School. These transitions were made with the best interest of our students in mind, and both leaders are excited about their new roles. Mrs. Lewis looks forward to running with the Mustangs in her new position!

Good afternoon McCullough Middle School Community,
It is a privilege to introduce myself as the newly appointed principal of McCullough Middle School. I am both elated and honored to have the opportunity to serve as principal at my very own school, where I can continue to work with McCullough students, staff, and parents.
The 2022-2023 school year marks my 16th year in education, all of which have been in Colonial Nation. I have eight years of classroom experience, serving as a classroom teacher in various grade levels at the elementary level. As an instructional leader, I held the position of instructional math coach for three years. In this position I facilitated building and district level professional development workshops, supported classroom teachers, and collaborated with the school-based team regarding the implementation of supports and enrichment for students. My leadership experiences have been in the role of Student Advisor at Southern Elementary School and Assistant Principal at McCullough Middle School. In these roles I have supported students, staff, and families in grades K-8 in our general education and special programs.
In addition to my role as an educator, I am first and foremost a wife and mother. My husband Brian and I welcomed our first child, Brian Xavier in December of 2022. I look forward to introducing my family to the many wonderful people that call McCullough “home” in the near future.
To the students of McCullough, I am excited to see all of your smiling faces upon my return from maternity leave. As your new principal, look forward to continuing to ensure that you make the best of your middle school experience, and that you are prepared for high school and life beyond graduation.
To the parents/guardians of our Mustangs because the relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of our students, I am excited and eager to continue to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success.
To my McCullough staff, I am committed to continuing the positive traditions and practices currently in place at McCullough, while working diligently to ensure our success in the future. Together we will continue to live and breathe our school motto, “Mustangs Run Together”.
In closing, please know that my door is always open to you. I heartily welcome your conversation and synergy throughout my tenure as principal of McCullough Middle School. As we work together, let us always keep our students the primary focus of our work. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year and beyond.
