Animal Science
Animal Science in Colonial School District focuses on the small and large animal industry. Students gain knowledge and practical hands on experience in the fields of care, nutrition, anatomy, handling and more! Home to a variety of furry and feathered friends, our Animal Science program is constantly expanding to afford students more hands on learning opportunities. Throughout the school year and summer students have the opportunity to care for these animals and gain a better understanding of industry standards, and how these apply in a smaller hobby farm setting.
Topics covered in Animal Science include:
Companion Animals: Dogs, Cats, Fish, Birds, Reptiles, and other small mammals
Industrial Animals: Cattle (Dairy and Beef), Poultry, Swine, Goats, Sheep, Horses
Global Topics: Food Safety, Animal Behavior, Animals Role in Society, Industrial Farming and its Environmental Impact, Animal Rights vs Animal Animal Welfare
AND MORE!

Animal Science has been really great because I’ve always loved animals, and I get to work with chickens and goats and ducks.”
