Farm to School

Through a partnership with Delaware Greenways on Historic Penn Farm, students will practice this knowledge on a living farm, adjacent to school property. Students will learn each aspect of farming in real time from seeds to harvest. Agriculture students work directly with culinary students, nutrition services, and science students in our “Farm to School to Table” program.

School Gardens

In addition to the Penn Farm Project at William Penn High School, students at 4 Elementary (Carrie Downie, New Castle, Pleasantville and Eisenberg) and 1 Middle School (George Read) have the opportunity to grow fresh vegetables in their school gardens. Produce grown by students is harvested and incorporated into school meal program! This is made possible through a partnership with Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids, a non-profit organization specializing in school gardens.  For more information, please visit https://www.healthyfoodsforhealthykids.org/
