Flyer Distribution

Guidelines for Distribution of Materials

The Colonial School District receives many requests to distribute flyers, brochures, and other informational materials to students and families. While we do not distribute commercial advertising or promotional materials for for-profit businesses, we welcome requests from nonprofit organizations and government agencies that provide educational, enrichment, recreational, or community opportunities that benefit our students and families.

All materials must be reviewed and approved by the District Office prior to distribution.

To request approval:

  • Email your flyer or material to Gabriel Phillips, Communications Officer, at gabriel.phillips@colonial.k12.de.us.

  • If approved, the requesting organization is responsible for providing printed copies and delivering them directly to the approved school(s).

Distribution Guidelines

For-Profit Organizations

Requests from for-profit businesses are generally not approved unless the organization is an established district or school partner supporting educational programs, fundraising efforts, or school initiatives.

Camps, Tutoring, Sports, and After-School Programs

Programs not affiliated with the Colonial School District may be considered under the following conditions:

  • Nonprofit organizations offering educational, recreational, or enrichment opportunities are generally eligible for approval.

  • For-profit organizations may be considered only if they:

    • Offer a meaningful number of scholarships or financial assistance opportunities to Colonial students, or

    • Are promoting a free, public educational or extracurricular event.

Approval is granted on a case-by-case basis.

Nonprofit Organizations

Materials from nonprofit organizations that benefit children and families are generally approved. Examples include:

  • Free educational or enrichment programs

  • After-school activities

  • Youth athletics and recreation

  • Children's arts and cultural events

  • Community service programs

  • Charitable fundraisers that directly benefit Colonial schools or youth organizations

Government Agencies

The Colonial School District encourages partnerships with local, state, and federal agencies. Materials promoting government-sponsored programs and services—including parks and recreation, libraries, public health initiatives, and arts or cultural programs—are generally approved.

The following statement must appear on all materials submitted by outside organizations: 

These materials are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the Colonial School District. The Colonial School District has neither reviewed nor approved the program, personnel, activities, or organizations announced in this flyer. Permission to distribute this flyer should not be considered a recommendation or endorsement of the program by the school district. The Colonial School District shall be held harmless from any cause of action or claim arising out of the distribution of these materials, including all costs, attorney's fees, and judgments or awards.
