Safety and Security

Dear Students, Families, and Staff,

The safety and security of every member of our school community is our number one priority. To continue enhancing our building security and implementing proactive safety measures, we will periodically utilize the weapons detection system at all district schools for the remainder of the school year. This system is currently used at home basketball games at William Penn High School.  The weapons detection system will also alert our constables about other prohibited items, such as vapes.  These periodic times include, but are not limited to, arrival for the school day, special events, athletic events, etc.  This security enhancement is simply another part of our district’s multi-layered approach to safety, like our “locked classroom doors save lives” practice.

Our goal is to create a safe and secure environment that fosters learning and promotes peace of mind for everyone on campus.  Our detection system serves as a first line of defense, designed to identify potential threats before they escalate and enter a building.  

While this technology is an important tool, it is one layer of our comprehensive safety plan. We must all continue to work together to ensure the well-being of our community. We encourage everyone to remind their children about the importance of reporting any safety concerns or suspicious activity to a trusted adult or staff member.
