Safety is everyone's responsibility. Through proactive planning, strong partnerships, ongoing training, and modern security practices, we strive to create an environment where every member of our Colonial family feels protected and supported.

School Resource Officers and Constables

Every Colonial school has access to one full-time constable. Also, Colonial partners with local law enforcement agencies to provide School Resource Officers (SROs) in our schools. SROs play an important role in maintaining a safe learning environment while building positive relationships with students and staff.

Their responsibilities include:

  • Enhancing campus safety

  • Assisting during emergencies

  • Building trust with students

  • Providing safety education

  • Serving as a resource for school administrators and families

What We Do

Our team leads and supports districtwide safety initiatives, including:

  • Emergency preparedness and crisis planning

  • Comprehensive school safety plans

  • School Resource Officer (SRO) coordination

  • Building security and access control

  • Security camera systems

  • Emergency drills and exercises

  • Threat assessment and behavioral intervention

  • Staff safety training

  • Visitor management procedures

  • Event and after-hours safety planning

  • Collaboration with local police, fire departments, EMS, and emergency management agencies

Emergency Preparedness

Every Colonial school maintains a comprehensive emergency operations plan that is regularly reviewed, updated, and practiced. Staff members receive ongoing training, and students participate in age-appropriate emergency drills throughout the school year to help ensure they are prepared should an emergency occur.

These drills include:

  • Fire Drills

  • Lockdown Drills

  • Evacuation Drills

  • Shelter-in-Place Procedures

  • Severe Weather Drills

We continually evaluate our procedures and incorporate best practices to keep our schools prepared for a variety of situations.

See Something. Say Something.

Everyone plays a role in school safety.

If you see concerning behavior, suspicious activity, or become aware of a potential safety concern, report it immediately to a school administrator, School Resource Officer, or trusted staff member.

If there is an emergency or an immediate threat to life or safety, call 911 immediately.

Early reporting helps us respond quickly and keep our schools safe.
