RE: Class of 2021 Updates (2)

Dear Class of 2021 Parent(s) and Guardian(s) and Seniors:
I hope that this communication finds all of you well. At this time, we would like to provide you with some updates regarding senior dues, prom, graduation exercises and reminders.

  • The William Penn Prom/Semi-Formal will be held on Friday, May 7th from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm at the Hyatt Place Riverfront Wilmington. Details about this year’s event can be read HERE.
  • We are working with venues to determine the feasibility of an in-person graduation ceremony. We understand that this is an important achievement and we are working to possibly provide the Class of 2021 with the opportunity to graduate in a ceremony that is as traditional as possible. As soon as we have any additional information, we will share it with families and students.
  • Senior Dues are $40 and will cover the cost of the diploma cover, Class of 2021 t-shirt (ENTER YOUR SHIRT SIZE HERE) and swag bag. (Items cannot be purchased a la carte.) Deadline to pay Dues: May 28th.

For cash or money order payments:
You may pay dues in-person Monday-Friday at William Penn in C-100.
Office Hours are 8:00 am – 2:45 pm.
Only cash or money orders will be accepted.

For online payments using a debit or credit card:
Go to: https://www.myschoolbucks.com/ver2/prdembd?ref=ZZH56859SX0827V_ZZ5QAXODDH8PX98 (A 3.95% transaction fee will be applied.)
(Don’t forget to save your receipt!!)

  • On Wednesday, April 21st, between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm, we will have our cap & gown and senior yard sign distribution. If you have not already done so, make sure you Order your Cap and Gown HERE so that you will receive it in time for graduation. (Orders after the date of this letter may not be ready by April 21st.)
  • Seniors should continue to bring in any outstanding obligations so that there is no delay in students receiving their diploma at graduation. The last day to turn in senior obligations is June 3rd. Please contact Merlyn Burns in the E2 Staff Center or at Merlyn.Burns@colonial.k12.de.us if you have any questions regarding obligations.
  • Reminder: The last day of school for Seniors is May 21st. We want to make sure all seniors finish the end of the school year by continuing to attend all classes and completing and turning in all required assignments. We encourage parents to log in to Home Access Center to actively monitor student progress in classes. Please reach out to your child’s teachers if you have any questions or concerns. We will continue to update parents and students as we receive more information.

Sincerely,
Ms. Lisa Brewington, M. Ed. & Mr. Kevin White, M. Ed.

Wellness Center Senior “Check Out” Iniatitive

Did you know our Wellness Center offers a “Senior Check Out” initiative? It’s a FREE comprehensive service for our graduating seniors. The visit includes a physical and immunization review/update to meet college and employment requirements.

Our mental health counselors can assist with stress reduction strategies, identifying resources, and building skills for the next steps. Our community health worker can assist with connecting to community resources such as insurance, housing, and health care providers as many graduates age out of pediatric care by age 18. Lastly, our dietitian can provide guidance on healthy eating for the best academic and athletic performance.

To participate, students must be registered with the Wellness Center (see link below to register); there are no out-of-pocket expenses or co-payments.

Please share this information with your seniors! Students can call the Wellness Center at 302 724-3740 or message Sharon John via Schoology to schedule their appointment.
