Re: ALL William Penn Classes Will Be Virtual on Monday, April 12th

Good afternoon William Penn Families and Students:
The District Leadership and COVID-19 advisory team have determined that all classes will be held virtually Monday, April 12th. This decision was made with much thought and consideration to ensure that the district is able to work safely and effectively in an in-person capacity after our return from Spring Break.

William Penn’s schedule* for Monday, April 12th will be our normal Friday virtual schedule:
Time                                 Class
8:00 am – 8:50 am        Period 5
9:00 am – 9:50 am        Period 6
10:00 am – 10:50 am    Period 7
11:00 am – 11:50 am    Period 8
12:00 pm – 12:30 pm    Lunch
12:30 pm – 1:30 pm      Independent work time
1:30 pm – 2:30 pm        Small group/Office Hours

All students will be expected to be on zoom for all classes in the morning and attend small group/office hours in the afternoon.
*Students in the Integration A Program should follow the virtual schedule sent out by teachers.

While we encourage staff, students, and families to enjoy the upcoming Spring Break from April 5-9, we remind everyone that now is not the time to relax the safety precautions we have been following since March of last year. Please continue to practice social distancing, hand washing, and stay within your family’s household gatherings while the vaccine rollout is still underway.

The health and safety of students and staff continue to be a top priority during these unprecedented times. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding. Please monitor our website at www.colonialschooldistrict.org, Facebook pages and our REMIND text messaging system for updates.

During Spring Break, William Penn will be closed. While on break we want to remind you to let us know if your children have any COVID status changes. If your child is deemed a close contact by DPH or if they test positive over the break, please contact me at Lisa.Brewington@colonial.k12.de.us. I will make sure our school nurse follows up with you upon return from spring break. In the event of an emergency, please contact me as
well. For any other non-emergency issues, please contact the appropriate staff member. Our staff directory is located HERE. Please send an email and staff will respond after we return from Spring Break. All other inquiries should be directed to the District Office at 302-323-2700.

Thank you,
Lisa R Brewington, M. Ed.
