Dear Parent(s), Guardians and Seniors:

The Senior Prom is scheduled for Friday, May 12, 2023, at the DuPont Country Club, from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm.  Dinner will be served starting at 7:00 pm.  This event is only open to students who have met all credit requirements to be considered in the 12th grade at William Penn High School and their approved guests.  (Please see the form attached for rules for guest passes.)

The cost of the prom ticket this year will be $85 per ticket.  

Tickets can be purchased with cash or money order only (no personal checks). There will be no online ticket sales.  There will be a limited amount of tickets sold and tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.

Tickets sales will begin on March 1st and end on April 28th.

CASH or MONEY ORDER PAYMENTS ONLY:  9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM- 3:00 PM IN THE MAIN OFFICE.

(Please respect the time slots due to availability of the office staff.)

ALL GUEST PASSES MUST BE SIGNED AND APPROVED BEFORE A GUEST TICKET IS PURCHASED.  

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable – You CANNOT sell/give your ticket/guest ticket to someone else.

Ticket numbers will be verified with the names of the student and/or guest upon arrival at the prom.

  • All students must enter by 8:00 pm; any students arriving after 8:00 pm will not be allowed to attend –

Please review the following important guidelines and restrictions:

  1. The Prom will only be open to 12th Grade students who have met all credit requirements; Guests must follow all rules set forth by the Colonial School District and DuPont Country Club. (See the attachment for guest passes for more information.)
  2. Students will be expected to follow all rules and expectations set by the Colonial School District and the DuPont Country Club. 
  3. Prom will be held from 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm.   Students and guests should arrive no later than 8:00 pm. You will need to plan for traffic.  Anyone arriving after 8:00 pm will not be permitted to attend and will not receive a refund.   Parents and/or arranged transportation should arrive by 11:00 pm at the end of the prom.
  4. Tickets will be sold on a first-come basis and are non-refundable and non-transferable.  
  5. Dinner will be served starting at 7:00 pm.  Dinner will be a plated meal served by the DuPont Country Club staff.  Meal selections will be made at the time of the ticket purchase.  The meal selections are as follows:
    • First Course: Fresh Seasonal Fruit Cup
  • Served Entrée – CHOICE OF ONE:
    • Main Course Options: 
      • Pan Seared Chicken Breast/ Roasted Mushrooms, Lemon Caper Pan Sauce
      • Oven Roasted Salmon/ Black Sesame, Citrus Teriyaki Glaze
      • Vegetarian: Cheese Ravioli/ Blush Sauce
  • Dessert: Gourmet Dessert Table and Ice Cream Station

(If there are any food allergies, please let us know at the time of the ticket purchase.)

  1. As this is a formal event, students AND guests will need to follow all guidelines around formal dress (see below for more information).  The Colonial School District Code of Conduct and Expectations of Student Dress will be enforced at all times.  Students and guests who are dressed inappropriately will not be permitted to enter the event and will not receive a refund.

 

  1. Parents/Family members cannot come to the DuPont Country Club to take pictures.  Families should remain in their vehicles if you are transporting a student to and from the prom.

 

  1. Any and all restrictions/guidelines are subject to change without notice and the Colonial School District/William  Penn High School and the DuPont Country Club will require all students, guests and staff to follow any changes or updates.

Rules Around Formal Dress:

As Prom is a formal affair, students are asked to dress appropriately in formal attire.  Please note the following dress code:

 

Tastefully Formal
  • Suit Jacket.
  • Dress Pants (long).
  • Buttoned shirt.
  • Tie.
  • Suit Or Tuxedo.
  • The backside of dresses should be at least 4 inches above the small of the back; sides should be covered.
  • Dress shoes.
  • No revealing of breasts, cleavage, midriffs, thighs, buttocks or sides.  
  • Jackets, vests and shawls will not be acceptable coverage, if when they are removed, the dress reveals any of the above-mentioned body parts.
  • No shorts.
  • No tee shirts.
  • No work boots or athletic sneakers.

 

The Colonial School District Code of Conduct and Expectations of Student Dress will be enforced at all times, with the exception of strapless/spaghetti strap dresses.  There will be no pinning of dresses at the door.  If you think your dress or attire may be questionable, please feel free to show Mrs. Berrios your attire or the front and back of your dress by sending a picture via email or schoology.   Students and guests who do not follow the guidelines, will not be permitted to enter the prom at any time during that evening.  Once again, tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

 

Parents:

We are requesting that parents not come to the DuPont Country Club to take pictures.  If you come, we will have to ask security to ask you to please leave the premises as this is a closed affair that is not open to the public.  Thank you in advance for adhering to the rules.

Prom Night Tips for Parents

  • Students and guests should be appropriately dressed for prom.  If you have any questions about what appropriate dress is, please refer to the rules around formal dress (enclosed), the student code of conduct or contact Mrs. Berrios as soon as possible.  Students and guests who are dressed inappropriately will not be admitted to the Prom.  They will not receive a refund.
  • Make sure your student has a plan for the evening and that you know what the plan is.
  • Make arrangements for your student to arrive on time for prom to ensure that they will eat dinner.  Dinner will be served between 7:00 PM and 7:45 PM.  Students will not be admitted after 8:00 PM and they will NOT receive a refund.  
  • Know all of the “hot spot” destinations.
  • Know who is driving – If it’s a limousine, check the company’s policy regarding allowing alcohol in the vehicle.  
  • Discuss the school’s prom rules with your student and their guest and the consequences for violating them.
  • Encourage seatbelt use – the best accessory!
  • Communicate with other parents and school officials.
  • Stay up until your child returns home.
