New Castle, DE- The Delaware School Counselor Association (DSCA) named Loveita Moffett the 2015-2016 Delaware High School Counselor of the Year. Moffett has been a school counselor at William Penn High School (WPHS) since 2001. Seventy counselors in the state were nominated, three semi finalists were chosen, with Moffett being selected as the sole High School Counselor of the Year.
“I was absolutely shocked when they announced my name at the DSCA School counseling dinner. There are so many great counselors across the state and at WPHS. I was sincerely humbled to even be nominated. I feel strongly that our school counseling staff is outstanding, and it is my honor to accept this award for our school counseling team at WPHS,” Moffett said.
Moffett is especially thrilled by the honor because she graduated from WPHS in 1995. “Every day I look forward to coming to work at a school where I once walked the halls as a student. I truly love WPHS and I’m proud to see our school recognized at a state level.”
In March the Delaware School Counselor of the Year will be announced at the DSCA’s spring conference. This award winner will represent Delaware on the national stage at the American School Counselor Association conference.
