Message from the Principal

Dear Colonial Virtual Program Families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year in the Colonial Virtual Program! I know we are in store for a great year of academic achievement and growth for our students in a virtual setting. Ms. Campbell and I will spend time with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles and interests. We will celebrate their successes; small and large. We will encourage them every day and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our virtual school community.

Not only are we excited to begin working with your children, but also we look forward to the work we will do as the Colonial Virtual Program  community.  As the old African proverb states, “It takes a village to raise a child.” We are excited to see your children through your eyes. We cannot wait to share with you the great things they do throughout their days. Through the POWER of WE, it is our goal to ensure that all of our children are healthy, happy and safe so they can be successful each day.

We  look forward to a great year ahead of us! The Colonial Virtual Program staff are looking forward to a  great year of learning, growing and developing. We are honored to have the opportunity to teach your children. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us  if you have any questions, concerns, and/or ideas that you would like to discuss.

Kind Regards,

Lindsay DiEmidio, Principal

Kerri Campbell, Assistant Principal

  • The Colonial Virtual program (CVP) was formed to provide Colonial families with the resources and flexibility to serve students who wish to learn online. It is managed and operated by the District, but the credits align with a student’s assigned school.
  • CVP offers a wide range of computer-based courses that students take over the internet. Students may complete their courses from their home or other learning environment with internet access.
  • The courses are developed and taught by locally based, Delaware-certified teachers. In addition, Our curriculum (unlike national providers) includes and assesses DE state standards. Thus, CVP delivers the same high-quality instruction found in all CSD schools.
  • A variety of courses and academic levels are available. Short-term, skill-building and remedial coursework is also available. Since communication is integral to student success, CVP teachers are available by phone, in “virtual offices”, by email and within the actual course platforms. Teachers have frequent communication with students, primarily through written digital communication, e.g., email, and messaging within our course platforms (LMSs), and student information system (Genius SIS), and if requested, they will copy local school contacts on any electronic communications.
