Academic Support

After School Tutoring

William Penn offers tutoring after school for all students upon request and teacher availability.  Typically this tutoring occurs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.  Students are to request to meet with their individual teachers after school at least a day in advance to make arrangements.

Advisory

The William Penn Advisory program will be held atleast monthly and is listed on a student’s schedule as “Period 9”.  The main purpose of Advisory is to provide a first line of communication with students concerning school matters, in an effort to improve the students’ school experience, which will result in improved attendance and academic achievement.  Advisory will provide a sounding board for student concerns, and maintain an up to date check on student attendance and grades.  Social and Academic lessons will be presented in this setting as well.  Please note that the advisor is not expected to have the answer for every student concern, but he/she should be able to connect the student with a qualified staff member who can assist the student with an issue or concern, such as the nurse, counselor, school psychologist, other teacher, or principal.

Saturday School

Periodically throughout the school year Wm. Penn will host Saturday School,in an attempt to support our school wide goal of increasing our graduation rate.  At risk students will be asked to attend Saturday School to bring up failing grades.  Students are responsible for gathering their make up work in advance before reporting to Saturday School.  William Penn will host Saturday School in both the fall and spring semesters.
