This summer, all PLV students have been presented with a Summer Reading Challenge! Each student is being encouraged to read 100 books (or chapters) before the last day of Summer (September 21st). Students who complete the challenge will be eligible to participate in an ice cream party!  Information has been sent home with your child, but in case you missed it, click here for the official flyer.

Short on books at home? No worries! Check out your child’s raz-kids account over the summer. You can also click here for the link to the New Castle County Library! Happy reading!

Pennies for Patients

Congratulations to the efforts of all students, families, and staff at Pleasantville! Our original goal was to raise $1,800. We exceeded our goal, raising $2,008.69! WOW!!

Pleasantville recently registered to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Series’ Pennies for Patients. Pennies for Patients is an event in which money is collected to help find cures for blood cancer patients and also to help educate the students in our school about the needs of kids just like them who may be going through a very difficult time. On April 11th, your child was sent home with a small box to be used to collect spare change. Students can put any amount of change in the box. Once full, please bring the box back to school so that the money collected can be counted and added to your child’s classroom container. The money collected in each classroom will then be counted and combined with money collected in other classrooms. This year, LLS is awarding a pizza party to the class with the most money collected! In years past, Delaware has donated a total of $70,000 to research that could help save lives! Let’s join the effort and raise as much as we can! Thank you for your support!
