Who WE Are – Tim Kelleher

When 65- year old Timothy Kelleher retired from the insurance business, he wanted to do something that would have a positive influence on young people.  Kelleher does that every day by driving a school bus for the Colonial School District saying he treats every student like his own family,  but that’s not all. Kelleher is also a volunteer for Colonial’s Worked-Based Learning program (WBL) which, among other things, finds employment, internships and mentoring programs for students. As a member of the WBL advisory board, Kelleher spends his free time seeking out businesses that are willing to open doors to the district’s high school students, some of whom have disabilities. Kelleher helped form a partnership with Dassault Aviation in New Castle which resulted in internships for two William Penn engineering students.  “I’m so proud of Colonial…as a business person and a taxpayer I used to think why are we paying this amount or why do they want more funds for education, but when I see the money being used and seeing the kind of kids they’re producing, it’s just tremendous!” Kelleher says.

Tim is Who WE Are.
