NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING and WRITTEN INPUT PROCESS

The Colonial Board of Education will hold a public meeting for the purpose of considering a waiver of the provisions of the following two sections of Title 14 of the Delaware Code (14 Del.C., §§1704 and 1705A) for all district schools.

1. 14 Del.C., §1704 requires the assignment of 98 percent of Division I teaching units generated by actual student enrollment on the last school day in October be assigned to the school generating the teaching units.

2. 14 Del.C., §1705A restricts the number of students assigned to core academic subjects (English/language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies) in grades kindergarten through three (K-3) to a teacher/student ratio of one to 22 (1:22) on the last school day in October.

The Board may waive these provisions following public notice, public input, and a Board meeting.

A public meeting of the Colonial Board of Education will be held on November 15, 2016 for the purpose of considering the matter of a waiver for each of the above provisions and other regular business of the Board. Individuals may submit written comments on these matters to the Office of the Superintendent, Colonial School District, Administration Building, 318 E. Basin Road, New Castle, Delaware 19720-4214, by 4:00 p.m. by Monday, October 31, 2016.
