Title: Equity & Me

During this session, participants will explore the foundational elements of diversity, equity and inclusion topics. They will be able to use this information to gain a better understanding of their own identity, and apply these skills to create a more inclusive community.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Marissa Gatson (Robinson) came to Georgetown in the Fall of 2020 in the newly-created role of Executive Director for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. She is responsible for overseeing the departmental DEI efforts and strategically setting the vision.

Gatson came to the Hilltop from the NCAA where she served as an assistant director of leadership development for four years. In her role, she was responsible for a plethora of programs serving student-athletes, coaches and administrators with a focus on serving underrepresented/marginalized communities. Gatson joined the leadership development department as an intern as part of the NCAA Postgraduate Internship Program.

The Delaware native graduated summa cum laude from Kean University with a bachelor’s degree in special education and psychology. She earned her master’s degree in sport leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. During her time at Kean, she was a four-year field hockey student-athlete and was inducted into their Athletics Hall of Fame in 2021.
